Loule
Within the remaining walls is a museum with an explanation of what
was in the past the grandeur of the castle. The various earthquakes that it
has suffered through its history have damaged the 13th Century Church
of São Clemente. However, its Gothic arches and side chapels that
are from the 16th Century have survived. The town Loulé consisting of
some 20,000 residents is mainly concerned in producing souvenir products
made out of copperware, leather, cane and wood. The weekly Fair attracts
tourists from all along the Algarve. Due to the needs of the tourist
industry this town has blossomed in size. An important event is the annual
Carnival in February that is considered to be one of the best in Portugal.
In the town there is a recently opened Museum that is devoted to the local
industry of dried fruits and it is interesting to see how these items are
prepared for the public. To the west of the town is a hilltop Church that is
built on the site of a 16th Century chapel. This is the destination of an
annual religious procession that requires some physical effort on the part
of the bearers of the church's religious shrines.

On the outskirts of Loule off the Sao Bras road is this spacious 3-bedroom
villa with bags of potential. The location is perfect for permanent
residence, set in tranquil surroundings and in beautiful countryside, yet
only 5 minutes from the main town of Loule and all amenities, giving you the
best of both worlds. Beaches and golf courses are only a short drive away
and Faro airport can be reached via the nearby motorway link in 20 minutes.
There are currently two available options with this property until
renovation work starts in the Spring. As it stands, the villa is perfectly
habitable and if a prospective buyer is happy to do the updating work then
the current owner will obtain the necessary licence for permission to build
a swimming pool and leave the rest as it is. Accommodation at present
consists of all main rooms on one level in bungalow style. Through the main
entrance into the hallway which leads through to a very large lounge/dining
room with feature wood burner and brick work either side, air conditioning
and doors leading out to a fantastic covered patio area running the length
of the villa extending out to South facing sun terraces and a covered bbq
area. Back in the house off the hallway is a fitted and equipped “rustic”
style kitchen with larder and door to the lounge and another door to one of
the garages and separate laundry area. This garage also has access to the
loft space which lends itself to conversion for more rooms or storage. At
the other end of the hallway are 3 double bedrooms all with real wood
flooring, fitted wardrobes and the master having an en-suite bathroom and
air conditioning. There is another full bathroom, an office and stairs down
to a large basement area perfect for a games room or entertaining. The
inside of the villa is full of original and charming features with lovely
brickwork and archways. Outside, the gated entrance and impressive sweeping
driveway lead you to the front of the house with ample parking areas and 2nd
garage. The plot is extensive full of mature fruit trees, terraces, pergola
and being elevated has fabulous views of the surrounding countryside. The
alternative option is to purchase the house with the work already done
including: swimming pool, new plaster and paint inside and outside, garage
conversion into 4th en-suite bedroom, new drive in cobblestones
and fully landscaped Mediterranean style garden on the front and South-west
side of the land. This is a unique opportunity and viewing is highly
recommended.
